Hyderabad, May 12: Five persons were killed and several others injured after a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus overturned near Zaheerabad in Sangareddy on Tuesday.
According to police, the accident occurred on the Bidar to Zaheerabad highway when the bus first hit a motorcycle and later overturned into a roadside gorge after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
Two persons travelling on the motorcycle died on the spot. Three bus passengers sitting in the front portion of the bus also lost their lives in the crash.
At least ten other passengers suffered injuries in the accident. Police said the condition of four injured passengers remains critical.
Bus Was Travelling From Hyderabad To Bidar
The Karnataka RTC bus was reportedly travelling from Hyderabad to Bidar when the accident took place.
Local residents and motorists immediately rushed to the spot and helped rescue injured passengers trapped inside the overturned bus. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Police teams reached the accident site and launched an investigation into the incident. Officials are examining whether overspeeding or driver negligence led to the mishap.
The accident caused temporary traffic disruption on the busy highway as rescue operations and vehicle clearance continued for several hours. Further details regarding the identities of the deceased are awaited.
