Rajnath Singh, Chandrababu Naidu Launch Rs 16,000 Crore AMCA Project

Hyderabad, May 15: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday laid the foundation stone for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft, AMCA, infrastructure project worth nearly Rs 16,000 crore at Puttaparthi in Sri Sathya Sai district.

According to official sources, the AMCA infrastructure project involves an estimated investment of Rs 15,803 crore and is expected to create around 7,500 employment opportunities in the region.

The foundation ceremony was attended by Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh along with senior defence and State government officials.

Officials said the AMCA project is a major step toward strengthening India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and promoting advanced aerospace technology infrastructure.

Along with the AMCA project, Rajnath Singh and Chandrababu Naidu also launched several defence manufacturing and drone city projects aimed at transforming Andhra Pradesh into a major defence and aerospace hub.

During the event, the leaders visited a defence exhibition that showcased missiles, hand grenades, advanced firearms, drone technology, defence equipment and a fighter jet prototype.

The project is expected to attract investments in the defence sector while creating opportunities for skilled employment, research and technology development.

Officials stated that the initiative aligns with the Centre’s push for self reliance in defence production under the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.

The Andhra Pradesh government is also focusing on expanding industrial and infrastructure development in the Rayalaseema region through defence and technology based investments.

The AMCA project is considered one of the significant defence infrastructure initiatives announced in southern India in recent years.
