Hyderabad, May 15: Bharat Rashtra Samithi, BRS, MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy has decided to boycott the review meeting on revenue and housing departments scheduled on Friday, alleging delay in clearance of development proposals submitted by him earlier.
The meeting is set to be chaired by Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.
In a letter addressed to the Minister, Srinivas Reddy questioned the prolonged delay in approving proposals related to development works in his constituency and informed him about his decision to stay away from the meeting.
The BRS MLC stated that proposals worth Rs 248.40 lakh submitted under the Constituency Development Programme for the financial year 2023-24 are still pending clearance.
According to him, only Rs 124.20 lakh worth of proposals received sanction through the Hanamkonda District Collector, while the remaining proposals have not been approved despite provisions available under GO MS No. 3.
BRS MLC Alleges Delay Affecting Public Works
Srinivas Reddy said the delay in granting administrative approvals has severely impacted development activities and public works in his constituency.
He alleged that the continued pendency of the proposals appeared deliberate and amounted to a violation of his rights as a Member of the Legislative Council.
“Under these circumstances, participating in the revenue and housing department review meetings at the TGSHCL office serves no purpose,” the MLC reportedly stated in his communication to the Minister.
The issue has triggered political attention as the BRS leader publicly expressed dissatisfaction over the handling of constituency development proposals by the government.
The review meeting is expected to discuss issues related to revenue administration, housing schemes and implementation of welfare programmes across the State.
However, the boycott decision by the opposition MLC has added a political dimension to the proceedings.
