It is known that Khalid was booked under the UAPA Act during the 2020 Delhi riots against the CAA. He was arrested in September that year and has been in jail since then. The trial court had earlier rejected Khalid’s petition seeking bail for 15 days to take care of his mother, who had undergone surgery. However, the High Court granted Khalid a small relief and granted him three days of interim bail.

On this occasion, the court imposed several conditions on Umar Khalid. It made it clear that he should not go beyond the Delhi-NCR area after being released on bail. He was told to stay at the address given to the authorities. It made it clear that he should not go to any other places except the hospital. It also made it clear that only one mobile number should be used during the bail. However, the Delhi Police opposed bail for Umar Khalid. He said that his mother had undergone a simple surgery. They said that it would be enough if Khalid was allowed to see his mother under police security. However, the court finally granted him three days of bail.(Maxim News)
