Hyderabad, May 22 (Maxim News): The Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught an Assistant Divisional Engineer red handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.25,000 in Medak district.
The accused officer was identified as Muddam Ramana Reddy, Assistant Divisional Engineer Operations of Narsapur Division in Medak district.
According to the ACB, the trap was conducted on May 22 at around 12.40 pm in the officer’s office. Officials said the accused demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant for forwarding 11 work bills worth Rs.3,13,882 to the Divisional Engineer, Electrical Operations, Medak.
ACB officials recovered the tainted amount of Rs.25,000 from the possession of the accused officer during the operation. The bureau stated that the official had performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
Following the trap, the ACB arrested the accused officer and produced him before the Hon’ble II Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE and ACB Cases Court in Hyderabad. Officials confirmed that further investigation into the case is currently underway.
The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons. The Anti Corruption Bureau also urged the public to report any demand for bribes by government officials.
The ACB requested citizens to contact its toll free helpline number 1064 in case of corruption complaints. People can also approach the bureau through its WhatsApp number 9440446106 and social media platforms for reporting corruption related issues.
The bureau reiterated that the names and details of complainants would be kept confidential. (Maxim News)
