Lucknow, May 25: The Uttar Pradesh government has issued strict guidelines ahead of Bakrid celebrations, banning public prayers and animal sacrifice in open places across the state.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed law and order arrangements during a high level meeting in Lucknow on Monday. He directed district collectors and police officials to ensure peaceful celebrations and prevent any untoward incidents during the festival.
The government clarified that Bakrid prayers should be conducted only within mosques and Eidgah premises. Authorities were instructed not to allow prayers on roads or in other public places.
Officials were also advised to organise prayers in multiple shifts if large crowds gather at religious locations.
Bakrid Guidelines Focus On Security And Cleanliness
The Uttar Pradesh government also imposed restrictions on animal sacrifice in public places. Authorities warned that strict action would be taken against those violating the rules or sacrificing prohibited animals.
The administration directed local bodies to ensure proper sanitation arrangements immediately after Qurbani rituals
The Chief Minister instructed police officials to deploy additional forces at sensitive areas, Eidgahs and mosques across the state. Surveillance through CCTV cameras and drones has also been ordered to monitor crowded locations.
Officials were further asked to closely monitor individuals attempting to create tension or disturb communal harmony during the festival.
The government’s key directives include conducting Namaz only inside mosque premises, avoiding road blockages during prayers, banning public sacrifices, ensuring hygiene after animal sacrifice and increasing surveillance in sensitive areas.
The move comes as several states across India intensify security and administrative preparations ahead of Bakrid celebrations later this week.
