Hyderabad, May 26: The Telangana government has appointed IAS officer Abdul Hameed as the new Director of Minorities Welfare as part of the latest administrative reshuffle in the State.
According to transfer and posting orders issued by the General Administration Department through G.O.Rt.No.725 dated May 25, 2026, Abdul Hameed IAS of the 2020 batch has been posted as Director of Minorities Welfare.
He previously served as Additional Collector (Local Bodies) in Siddipet district. Following the appointment, Abdul Hameed assumed charge by relieving B. Shafiullah IFS, who was holding the post under Full Additional Charge (FAC).
Abdul Hameed meets Minister Azharuddin
After assuming office, Abdul Hameed paid a courtesy visit to Minister for Public Enterprises and Minorities Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin at the Telangana Secretariat.
During the meeting, discussions were held on strengthening welfare initiatives, effective implementation of minority development schemes and ensuring transparent and people centric governance for minority communities across Telangana.
Minister Mohammed Azharuddin congratulated Abdul Hameed on his appointment and expressed confidence that the department would continue working efficiently for the welfare, upliftment and empowerment of minorities in the State.
Officials said the government is focusing on improving delivery of welfare schemes and strengthening institutional support for minority communities through better coordination and administration.
