Hyderabad, June 1 (Maxim News): Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday demanded a public apology from Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
The minister said Pawan Kalyan should apologize to Telangana people before holding public meetings in the state. He alleged that some of the Jana Sena chief’s past remarks hurt the sentiments of Telangana citizens.
Speaking at the MLA Camp Office in Husnabad, Ponnam Prabhakar questioned Pawan Kalyan’s proposed Nava Nirmana Sabha programmes. He asked why the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister was focusing on Telangana politics.
According to the minister, leaders must respect Telangana’s history and identity before seeking public support. He said the people of Telangana would not accept statements that undermine the state’s self respect.
Ponnam Prabhakar on Pawan Kalyan and Telangana Politics
Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that Pawan Kalyan was promoting the BJP’s political agenda in Telangana. He claimed that such efforts could create unnecessary political divisions.
The minister also questioned the timing of the proposed meetings. He said Andhra Pradesh faces several public issues that require immediate attention.
Instead, he urged Pawan Kalyan to focus on governance, employment and welfare programmes in his own state. He said elected leaders should prioritize the responsibilities given to them by the people.
Ponnam Prabhakar further criticized the Jana Sena chief over national and regional issues. He alleged that Pawan Kalyan had remained silent on unemployment, fuel prices and privatization concerns.
Meanwhile, the minister said Telangana welcomes visitors and political leaders from all regions. However, he stressed that public representatives must respect local sentiments and avoid divisive statements.
The remarks come ahead of Telangana Formation Day celebrations on June 2. Political observers see the controversy as part of a wider debate over regional identity and political influence in the state.
Telangana and Andhra Pradesh share strong historical and cultural ties. Even so, the minister said political discussions should remain respectful and constructive.
He also called on all parties to focus on development, farmers’ welfare, youth employment and social justice. According to him, these issues matter more than political confrontation.
The latest comments have intensified the political exchange between Telangana Congress leaders and Pawan Kalyan. As a result, the debate is likely to continue in the coming days.
With political activity increasing ahead of key events, the demand for an apology has become a major talking point in Telangana politics.
