Hyderabad, June 5: A motorcycle belonging to a serving police constable went missing under suspicious circumstances in the Punjagutta area, officials said on Monday. The incident triggered a police investigation after the officer filed a complaint with the local station.
The constable works in the City Security Wing of Hyderabad Police and lives at Ramakrishna Nagar in Errum Manzil. He parked his Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle outside his residence at around 11:30 pm on May 31.
When he checked the vehicle the next morning at around 9:30 am, he found it missing. He immediately searched nearby streets and surrounding areas but failed to trace the motorcycle.
After unsuccessful attempts to locate the vehicle, he approached the police and lodged a formal complaint. Punjagutta police registered a case and launched an investigation into the theft.
Police Launch Investigation Into Late Night Vehicle Theft
Officials said they are examining all possible angles, including local theft networks operating in the area. Police teams are also verifying whether the vehicle was picked up during the night hours when movement is relatively low in residential pockets.
Investigators are likely to check CCTV footage from nearby buildings and roads to identify suspects and track the movement of the stolen motorcycle. Police sources said efforts are underway to recover the vehicle at the earliest.
The incident has raised concern among residents in the locality, as vehicle theft cases in parts of the city continue to be reported intermittently. Authorities have advised citizens to use proper locking systems and park vehicles in secure locations, especially during night hours.
Police officials confirmed that the case is under active investigation and further details will be shared once there is progress in the probe.
