Hyderabad, June 7: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Sunday said the Bharatiya Janata Party is the only credible alternative in Telangana and accused the Congress government of spreading misinformation about the Centre’s support to the state.
Addressing party workers at a training programme in Yadagirigutta, Rao alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has repeatedly claimed that Telangana is not receiving adequate assistance from the Central Government.
Rao said the Centre has provided Telangana with development projects, welfare schemes and financial support worth Rs 13 lakh crore over the past 12 and a half years. He highlighted several initiatives, including the expansion of national highways, the revival of the Ramagundam Fertiliser Plant, approval of the Kazipet Coach Factory, the PM MITRA Textile Park in Warangal and the Tribal University in Mulugu.
He also noted that the Union Cabinet recently approved Rs 7,597 crore for the expansion of the Armoor–Jagtial–Mancherial and Jagtial–Karimnagar highways into four lanes.
Criticising the Congress government, Rao alleged that its tenure has been marked by controversies and corruption allegations. He contrasted this with what he described as corruption free governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the national level.
The BJP leader challenged the Congress to highlight its achievements in Telangana and claimed that the state government has focused more on criticising the Centre than showcasing its own accomplishments.
Rao said the Modi government has contributed significantly to urban development through initiatives such as the AMRUT scheme and the Smart Cities Mission. He added that the Centre has played an important role in Hyderabad’s growth and announced that the BJP would intensify efforts to strengthen the implementation of Central schemes in GHMC, Malkajgiri and Cyberabad.
He further alleged that both the BRS and Congress governments had failed to prioritise Hyderabad’s development. Calling on voters to support the BJP, Rao expressed confidence that the party would emerge as a strong force in Telangana and perform well in upcoming urban local body elections.
