Tirupati, June 9: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday said the country has witnessed significant development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while alleging that corruption and scams marked the tenure of previous Congress governments.
Speaking to the media during his visit to Tirupati, Joshi said Modi has taken several key decisions for the country’s welfare, including Operation Sindoor. He also noted that the Prime Minister has completed 4,399 days in office.
Joshi said the alliance government in Andhra Pradesh has completed two years under the leadership of N. Chandrababu Naidu. He recalled that Jawaharlal Nehru remains the longest serving Prime Minister in India’s history.
The Union Minister alleged that scams worth Rs 6 lakh crore occurred during earlier Congress governments. He claimed that India is now among the fastest growing major economies despite global challenges.
Joshi said around 25 crore people have benefited from multidimensional development initiatives. He added that free food grains are being provided to 81 crore beneficiaries across the country.
He also stated that a pilot project for geo tagging food supplies is underway in Andhra Pradesh. According to him, digital transactions have expanded significantly following the opening of Jan Dhan accounts for crores of citizens.
Joshi further said employment opportunities have increased alongside the expansion of national highways. He noted that India is now the world’s second largest producer of electricity and has achieved a power surplus position.
The minister highlighted the rapid growth in mobile phone usage and said the Centre is taking measures to ensure an uninterrupted LPG supply. He also criticized Congress leaders, alleging that some opponents were raising concerns over the SIR process for political reasons.
