Hyderabad, August 15: Municipal sanitation workers have urged citizens not to discard the National Flag on roads after Independence Day celebrations.
They held placards asking people not to throw the Tiranga on roads, in gutters or garbage bins.
The awareness initiative was conceived by PR CommUNITY to promote respectful handling and disposal of the National Flag.
Citizens have been encouraged to collect, preserve and dispose of flags respectfully under the Flag Code of India.
Workers Highlight Responsibility Towards Tiranga
The initiative highlights the sight of discarded flags after Independence Day celebrations.
Sanitation workers often find and collect flags left on roadsides and in garbage.
The campaign gained significance with the visit of Priya Ranjan Sarkar, known as the “Flag Man of Bengal.”
Sarkar has spent more than 15 years collecting discarded National Flags and promoting awareness about their respectful handling.
The campaign conveys a simple message: celebrating the Tiranga also carries a responsibility to protect its dignity.
