Hyderabad, June 20: Heavy rain lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Saturday evening, prompting weather alerts for multiple city areas as intense thunderstorms moved across the eastern and northeastern parts of the city.
According to Telangana Weatherman, heavy rain with thunder and lightning was reported in Boduppal, Peerzadiguda, Narapalli, Ghatkesar, Bandlaguda, Thatti Annaram and Hayatnagar.
The weather system is likely to spread to Nacharam, Mallapur, Malkajgiri, Dammaiguda, Nagaram, Cherlapally, Kapra, Nagole, Tarnaka and nearby areas within the next hour.
Hyderabad rain alert extended to more city areas
Residents have been advised to remain alert as more storm clouds are expected to enter Hyderabad during the night. People have also been asked to change travel plans if needed and avoid unnecessary movement during heavy rain.
Apart from Hyderabad, the weather alert has been extended to several Telangana districts. Heavy rain is likely in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Vikarabad and Narayanpet over the next two hours.
Rainfall activity has also started in Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Jogulamba Gadwal and surrounding areas. Weather observers said the intensity may increase further during the evening.
The alert comes after city residents endured high temperatures through the day before storm activity picked up in the evening. Authorities are expected to monitor low lying areas and traffic movement if rainfall intensifies in the coming hours.
