The meeting has drawn attention as it comes in the backdrop of the Tungabhadra dam gate washout incident and the urgent work taken up to replace the damaged gates.

Senior Andhra Pradesh ministers also joined the meeting. State Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav and Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu were present during the discussions.

The newly installed gates were completed on a war footing after one of the Tungabhadra dam gates was washed away earlier, triggering concern over irrigation and water storage in the region. The inauguration of the new gates is seen as a key step in restoring confidence among farmers and residents in the command area.
