Hyderabad, June 25 (Maxim News): Hyderabad Traffic Police caught an auto rickshaw driver for allegedly driving drunk while transporting six schoolchildren during a special enforcement drive in Goshamahal on June 24.
The incident came to light at about 8.37 am near the Traffic Training Institute, Goshamahal, during a special checking drive focused on school buses and school autos. Police intercepted an auto bearing registration number TS12UA9230, which was carrying children of Slate School in Abids.
On suspicion, the driver, identified as Shaik Ismail, 35, was tested with a breath analyser. The test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 60 mg per 100 ml, police said.
School transport checks intensified
Following the test result, the traffic police secured the vehicle and handed the driver over to Goshamahal police for legal action. A criminal case was registered against him under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.
The special drive was conducted by Goshamahal Traffic Police under the supervision of Sub Inspector D Jagadeesh along with Home Guards Kiran Kumar and Suresh.
Hyderabad Traffic Police said the drive was launched under instructions from senior officials to ensure the safety of schoolchildren using autos and buses.
Police issued a strong warning to all drivers, especially those transporting schoolchildren, to strictly follow traffic rules and never drive under the influence of alcohol.
Officials said the safety of schoolchildren remains a top priority and that strict action will continue against violators. (Maxim News)
