Shabbir Ali Seeks Special Teams To Protect Genuine Voters During SIR

Hyderabad, June 25: Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Thursday called for the formation of village, ward and booth level special teams to carry out house to house verification of electoral rolls and ensure that no eligible voter is excluded during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

Shabbir Ali made the appeal after completing his voter registration process at his residence in Kamareddy. Officials conducted the exercise under the supervision of the in charge Additional Collector.

He said the right to vote remains one of the most important rights in a democracy. Therefore, he urged Congress leaders, workers, sarpanches, ward members, councillors, booth level agents and booth level officers to coordinate closely during the revision exercise.

Shabbir Ali urges transparent SIR process

Shabbir Ali said the Election Commission of India and the administrative machinery must conduct the Special Intensive Revision process transparently. According to him, every step should strengthen public trust in the electoral system.

He stressed that genuine and eligible voters must remain on the electoral rolls. At the same time, duplicate and ineligible entries should be identified and removed to improve transparency.

Further, he asked party leaders and workers to visit every household and verify voter details at the booth level. He also encouraged them to help all citizens who recently turned 18 register as new voters.

Referring to concerns raised in different parts of the country over voter list maintenance, Shabbir Ali said both officials and political parties must stay alert to preserve the credibility of electoral rolls.

“Every vote has equal value in a democracy. Protecting voting rights is the responsibility of every political party and every citizen. No eligible voter should be left out, and duplicate and ineligible votes must be removed to strengthen transparency in elections,” he said.

Congress leaders, public representatives, booth level agents, party workers and officials attended the programme.
