Ayodhya, June 29: The Ayodhya Bar Association has announced that its members should not represent the accused in the alleged Ayodhya Ram Temple donation misuse case and warned that any advocate who appears for them could face a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
The decision came after eight persons were arrested in connection with the alleged misappropriation of temple donations.
Bar Association President Kalika Prasad Mishra said no advocate should argue on behalf of the accused in the case. He also demanded a detailed investigation into the matter.
Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Case Draws New Demands
The Bar Association also called for action against certain temple trust functionaries and demanded that they leave Ayodhya within three days. However, the individuals named in the demand have not been listed as accused in the FIR.
The association warned of protests if its demands were not addressed.
The eight accused in the case include Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lav Kush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ram Shankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava and Rama Shankar. According to available information, they were associated with handling cash counting and safeguarding valuables.
The Bar Association further sought a CBI inquiry and said it would approach the Supreme Court for a comprehensive investigation.
Reports also stated that decisions related to the temple trust matter are expected in the coming days.
