Hyderabad, June 29: Hyderabad District Congress Committee (DCC) President Syed Khalid Saifullah has demanded a city-wide inquiry by the Election Commission of India and the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer into complaints that voter enrolment and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) forms were allegedly being handled by political workers instead of authorised election personnel.
He said complaints received from areas including Charminar, Bahadurpura and Chandrayangutta had raised concerns over the conduct of the ongoing electoral revision exercise.
According to Khalid Saifullah, Congress representatives received information relating to Booth No. 29 in the Charminar Assembly constituency and contacted the concerned Booth Level Officer (BLO). He alleged they were informed that the forms were with a local political functionary.
He claimed party representatives later visited the location to verify the matter and alleged that they faced misbehaviour. A police complaint was reportedly filed.
The DCC president said similar concerns had been reported from Booth Nos. 31 and 32 in Charminar, where he alleged that SIR forms were not being handled according to prescribed procedures.
He further claimed that in one complaint linked to Booth No. 219, election-related calls were allegedly being received by a person associated with a political organisation instead of the designated functionary.
Additional complaints were also cited from Chandrayangutta and Bahadurpura, including allegations that certain field-level verification activities were not being conducted as expected.
Demand for Election Commission Inquiry
Khalid Saifullah urged the Election Commission of India, the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana and district election authorities to verify all complaints and determine whether any election-related forms or voter information had been handled outside official procedures.
He said voter enrolment, form distribution and verification should remain exclusively under authorised election officials and called for strict action if any irregularities are found.
The Congress leader stated that maintaining transparency, neutrality and voter confidence should remain central to the electoral revision process.
No response from election authorities or the political party named in the allegations was included at the time of reporting.
