Hyderabad Real Estate | Thousands of homebuyers in Hyderabad are facing prolonged delays in taking possession of their apartments as builders have missed handover timelines for nearly 63,000 flats across multiple residential projects.
Developers attribute the delays to supply chain disruptions, rising construction costs, and logistics challenges linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The shortage of imported construction materials has slowed work at several project sites across the city.
Hyderabad Real Estate Delays Burden Homebuyers
The construction sector is also grappling with a shortage of skilled workers. Many labourers who returned to their native states have not resumed work, further affecting project execution and completion schedules.
A large number of homebuyers booked their apartments four to five years ago, expecting possession by the end of 2025 or the first half of 2026. However, the continued delays have forced many families to bear the dual burden of paying home loan EMIs and monthly house rent.
According to the Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), more than 2,000 complaints have been filed over delayed possession of residential flats. Buyers are urging developers to complete the pending projects and hand over the homes without further postponement.
Industry experts say the pace of construction is expected to improve once material supplies stabilise and labour availability returns to normal. Until then, thousands of homebuyers remain uncertain about when they can finally move into their new homes.
