Hyderabad, July 9: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday said Telangana aims to become a 3 trillion economy by 2047, while targeting a 1 trillion economy by 2034, as the State focuses on industrial expansion, skill development and sustainable urban growth.
Speaking after inaugurating India’s next generation solar module manufacturing unit established by Premier Energies at Sitarampur in Rangareddy district, the Chief Minister said Telangana has one of the country’s best industrial policies.
He described Hyderabad as one of the world’s best cities to live in but acknowledged that pollution has emerged as a growing challenge. He said the State government has decided to clean the Musi River and will introduce a dedicated policy for the development of the city’s core urban areas.
Revanth Reddy said industries would gradually be shifted to the outer belt, with industrial land to be allotted beyond the Outer Ring Road. He added that new industrial estates would be developed between the Outer Ring Road and the Regional Ring Road.
The Chief Minister said the government is also promoting an agriculture based economy beyond the Regional Ring Road to ensure balanced regional development.
He reiterated that the State is working towards achieving a 1 trillion economy by 2034 and a 3 trillion economy by 2047. He said Telangana’s long term objective is to contribute 10 percent of India’s Gross Domestic Product.
Highlighting the importance of workforce development, Revanth Reddy said the government is enhancing skill training for blue collar workers. He added that a Skill University is being established to equip youth with industry relevant skills and improve employment opportunities.
