Hyderabad, July 9: Technical issues in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls have triggered concerns among voters and election staff, with delays in online services and documentation raising fears that a large number of eligible voters could face difficulties during the revision process.
According to reports, voters are experiencing problems while submitting SIR forms due to slow websites and mobile applications. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are also struggling to upload voter details because of server issues, delaying field verification.
Officials and voters have reported multiple challenges, including delays in receiving enumeration forms, difficulties in filling them, and limited awareness of the online submission process.
Another major hurdle is the mismatch between Aadhaar and voter database details. Differences in names, ages, addresses and outdated mobile numbers linked to Aadhaar are complicating address changes, new voter registrations and verification requests.
Residents who have shifted houses, migrated from villages or have not received their forms are among those facing the greatest difficulties in completing the process.
Many families are also encountering problems where registered voters are living abroad. While BLOs have delivered forms to their homes, parents say their children and relatives overseas cannot easily complete the mandatory signature process.
Although an online NRI option is available, voters have complained of technical glitches while accessing the service, making document submission difficult.
The SIR process is being carried out to update and verify electoral rolls, but technical bottlenecks have led to growing concerns among voters over timely completion of the exercise.
