India To Host BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting Today

New Delhi, August 21: India will host the 12th BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting on August 21, 2026, under its BRICS Chairship.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia will chair the meeting. Communications ministers and senior officials from BRICS countries will attend the discussions.

The BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting will focus on information and communication technologies, digital transformation and innovation.

Participants will also discuss resilient digital infrastructure and stronger technology cooperation. The meeting will address emerging technologies, cybersecurity and future networks.

BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting to focus on digital cooperation

The meeting will also cover digital public infrastructure, capacity building and inclusive digital connectivity. Member countries are expected to share experiences and best practices.

India has placed ICT cooperation among its priorities during its BRICS Chairship. The country is focusing on resilient infrastructure, cybersecurity and emerging technologies.

The Department of Telecommunications is leading discussions through the BRICS Working Group for Cooperation in ICTs. The group is also examining proposed BRICS Capacity Building Centres.

India’s BRICS Chairship follows the theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The ICT track follows the theme, “Innovate, Cooperate and Transform for a Resilient Future.”

Meanwhile, the meeting will build on cooperation areas discussed during the 11th BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting in 2025. Brazil hosted the previous meeting during its BRICS Chairship.

The earlier meeting stressed continued cooperation in ICTs, digital public infrastructure and global digital governance.

As part of the programme, Scindia will hold a media briefing after the meeting. He will outline the discussions and key outcomes.

The Union Minister will also visit the Digital BRICS Forum Expo. The exhibition will showcase digital technologies, innovations and solutions linked to the BRICS ecosystem.

The expo will also provide opportunities for technology exchange among participating countries and stakeholders.

Overall, the BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting will strengthen cooperation in the digital sector. India aims to promote a secure, inclusive and sustainable digital future through greater collaboration.
