ED Raids Avinash Reddy | Hyderabad, August 21: The Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at premises linked to YSR Congress Party Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy in connection with a money laundering investigation related to the murder of former Andhra Pradesh minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.
The searches began in the early hours and covered locations in Hyderabad and Kadapa district. According to reports, the ED searched six locations, including premises associated with Avinash Reddy and his father YS Bhaskar Reddy.
The latest action comes as agencies continue to examine the financial aspects linked to the high profile murder case. The ED is conducting the probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The searches also form part of the wider investigation into the March 2019 murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy. He was found dead at his residence in Pulivendula, Kadapa district, on March 15, 2019. The Supreme Court later transferred the trial from Andhra Pradesh to a special CBI court in Hyderabad.
The CBI has investigated the murder and the alleged larger conspiracy surrounding it. The agency filed a chargesheet in 2021 and a supplementary chargesheet in 2022.
The ED’s present searches focus on the financial trail connected with the case. Officials are examining documents and records relevant to the money laundering investigation.
Reports said the searches covered locations in Hyderabad and Kadapa. Premises linked to Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskar Reddy were also searched. Security personnel were deployed around some of the locations during the operation.
The development has triggered a fresh political reaction in Andhra Pradesh. However, the searches themselves do not establish criminal liability. The investigation remains underway, and the ED is expected to examine documents and other material gathered during the searches.
Avinash Reddy has previously rejected allegations concerning the Vivekananda Reddy murder investigation. In March 2026, he alleged that the case had been politicised and questioned aspects of the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court record shows that Avinash Reddy had earlier received legal protection in proceedings connected with the CBI investigation. The court proceedings have continued separately from the present ED action.
The latest ED searches are therefore significant because they bring financial investigation into renewed focus in the long running Vivekananda Reddy murder case. Further details are expected after the agency completes its searches and assesses the material collected.
