Hyderabad, August 20: The Hyderabad Traffic Police has intensified enforcement against vehicles using fake, tampered or unauthorised registration number plates.
The special drive follows a rise in complaints involving fraudulent number plates. Such violations attract action under the Motor Vehicles Act and other laws.
Over the past week, police registered six criminal cases against motorists allegedly using fraudulent registration plates.
Police identified and seized multiple vehicles during the enforcement drive.
The cases were registered at police stations covering Hyderabad and neighbouring districts.
These include Hadnoor Police Station in Sangareddy, Kalapathar, Afzalgunj and Musheerabad.
Cases were also registered at Intezargunj Police Station in Warangal and Kamareddy Town Police Station.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police stressed that only government approved High Security Registration Plates are permitted.
Vehicle owners cannot alter number plates, remove digits or use temporary stickers.
The department warned that violations could lead to criminal prosecution and immediate vehicle seizure.
Traffic Police urged motorists to follow registration plate rules and other traffic regulations.
Officials said the enforcement drive will continue across the city to prevent fraud and improve road safety.
