Hyderabad, July 11: Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 1,860 cases during a week long enforcement drive against unauthorised passenger transport and related violations.
The operation ran from July 6 with Telangana State Road Transport Corporation officials. Police targeted autos, minivans, jeeps, multi utility vehicles and other private carriers near TGSRTC bus stations. Officers said they took a zero tolerance stance to protect public safety and keep traffic moving.
Police booked 520 cases for bus bay parking violations. They cited 504 cases for carrying excess passengers. They recorded 342 cases for illegal parking or waiting near bus stops.
Also, 342 cases involved vehicles missing valid documents, including licences, registration, fitness, insurance or pollution certificates. Authorities filed 141 cases against goods vehicles carrying passengers illegally. They booked 11 cases for permit breaches or unauthorised operation.
Traffic officials said similar drives will run regularly to enforce the Motor Vehicles Act. They urged vehicle owners, drivers and operators to comply with rules. Police added sustained enforcement aims to reduce congestion and protect commuters.
