Hyderabad, July 11: The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Hyderabad has triggered complaints from several residents, who allege delays in the distribution of enumeration forms and inadequate assistance at help desks.
Citizens from different parts of the city have reported that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are either not visiting their homes or asking them to collect enumeration forms from designated locations, causing inconvenience during the voter verification process.
Senior citizens and persons with disabilities have reportedly been among the worst affected by the ongoing exercise.
Several residents have alleged that instead of home visits, they were asked to travel to specified locations to collect or submit forms. Many said they were unable to do so because of age-related or physical limitations.
Some also complained that help desks were either unattended or unable to provide adequate assistance in filling out the required forms.
Affected citizens have urged the Election authorities to introduce special arrangements for vulnerable groups, including:
- Doorstep assistance for senior citizens.
- Home visits for persons with disabilities.
- Functional help desks with trained staff.
- Timely distribution and collection of enumeration forms.
Residents have appealed to officials to ensure that eligible voters are not inconvenienced during the Special Intensive Revision process.
The Election Commission has been conducting the SIR exercise to update and verify electoral rolls ahead of future elections. Authorities are yet to issue a detailed response to the latest complaints.
