Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for Minorities Welfare and Public Enterprises Mohammed Azharuddin visited Telangana Public School (TPS), Arutla, on Saturday and spent more than three hours interacting with students, teachers and school authorities. During the visit, the former India cricket captain encouraged students to dream big, work hard and uphold values while striving for excellence in academics, sports and life.
The Minister was welcomed by the school Principal, Additional District Collector, education department officials, local public representatives, teachers, staff and students.
Azharuddin inspected classrooms, science laboratories, hostels, dining halls, playgrounds, sanitation facilities, drinking water arrangements, cricket practice nets, basketball and volleyball courts, and other infrastructure on the campus.
Azharuddin Urges Students to Dream Big and Respect Teachers
Addressing a gathering of students and teachers, Mohammed Azharuddin appreciated the Telangana Government and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for establishing modern educational institutions equipped with quality academic and sports infrastructure.
Sharing his own journey, the former Indian cricket captain recalled studying in a school with a very small playground and limited facilities. He said determination, discipline and hard work helped him achieve success despite those challenges.
He urged students to make the best use of the opportunities available to them today and emphasised that passion, dedication and perseverance are the real foundations of success.
The Minister encouraged students to set ambitious goals and aspire to become doctors, engineers, scientists, teachers, civil servants, sportspersons, administrators and leaders. He stressed that continuous learning and disciplined effort are essential to achieving excellence in any field.
Highlighting the importance of teachers, Azharuddin said they play a crucial role in shaping students’ futures and advised children to respect their teachers, seek guidance whenever needed and never hesitate to ask questions.
He also urged students to respect their parents, classmates and everyone around them, saying humility and good values are as important as academic achievement.
Recalling his cricket career, Azharuddin credited his teachers for instilling discipline, communication skills and respect, which helped him succeed at the highest level of international cricket.
The Minister encouraged students to identify their individual talents, practise consistently and never lose confidence because of temporary failures. He said every setback should be viewed as a learning opportunity.
He also advised students to build strong values and positive friendships during their school years, noting that the lessons learned from Class I to Class X remain with individuals throughout life.
Following the interaction, Mohammed Azharuddin joined students for a friendly cricket match, sharing batting and fielding tips while recalling memorable moments from his international career.
The visit concluded with the Minister interacting with students, answering questions on education, sports and career planning, signing autographs and posing for photographs. Teachers and students described the visit as an inspiring experience that motivated them to pursue excellence with discipline, integrity and dedication.
