New Delhi, July 23: The Delhi High Court is scheduled to hear on Friday a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the alleged foreign funding of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests held over the alleged NEET paper leak.
The petition alleges that foreign funds were used to support the protests and seeks a court monitored investigation.
Plea Seeks NIA Investigation
The PIL was filed by Satish Kumar Agarwal and is expected to be argued by advocate Barun Kumar Sinha before a bench comprising Chief Justice D K Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Karia.
According to the petition, the “Sansad Chalo” protest disrupted normal life in the national capital. It alleges that the agitation, which initially began over the NEET paper leak issue, later assumed a political dimension with the participation of leaders from various political parties.
The petition further claims that social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who supported the protest, has links with foreign organisations. On that basis, it seeks an NIA investigation into the alleged foreign funding.
The Delhi High Court has listed the matter for hearing on Friday. The allegations made in the petition are yet to be examined by the court.
