Hyderabad, July 30: Heavy overnight rains continued to lash Vikarabad district on Thursday, disrupting normal life as agricultural fields were inundated, a temporary bridge was washed away and several streams flowed in spate.
The downpour affected road connectivity in multiple areas, forcing commuters to take alternative routes while officials began precautionary measures and restoration work.
At Madgul Chittampally, an under construction temporary bridge on the Vikarabad to Parigi road was washed away due to the heavy flow of rainwater. Traffic on the stretch has been suspended, causing inconvenience to commuters.
Following complaints from local residents, officials started repair work and initiated precautionary measures to restore connectivity.
Several agricultural fields across the district remained submerged, raising concerns over crop damage and financial losses for farmers.
In Tandur, the Kagna rivulet, a tributary of the Bheema River, flowed in spate after heavy rainfall in the upstream catchment areas. Water overflowed the local check dam as inflows increased.
Residents of Ward No. 5 in Parigi municipality also continued to face difficulties due to damaged roads and poor connectivity. They alleged that repeated requests for proper road construction had not been addressed, making travel on slushy roads difficult during the monsoon.
Authorities are monitoring the situation as rainfall continues across parts of the district.
