Hyderabad Traffic Police Book Cases Against Fake Number Plates

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police have launched a special drive against vehicles using fake, tampered and unauthorised number plates, registering six criminal cases over the past week.

Only HSRP number plates are legal

Traffic police reiterated that only government-approved High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) are legally valid for vehicles. Officials warned that using fake, modified or unauthorised number plates is a criminal offence and could result in the registration of criminal cases, seizure of vehicles and further legal action.

The department urged vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are fitted with authorised HSRP number plates and avoid any alterations that could obscure or misrepresent the vehicle’s registration number.

Police said the special enforcement drive will continue across the city to curb the misuse of fake registration plates and enhance road safety and security.
