Hyderabad, August 5: Police have registered a case against eight private colleges in Hyderabad for allegedly submitting forged Fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs) during the recognition process, using documents bearing the fake signature of HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath.
According to officials, the alleged forged Fire NOCs were submitted to the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) as part of the colleges’ applications for recognition.
The documents are suspected to have been fabricated to falsely indicate compliance with mandatory fire safety requirements.
Following a complaint, the Lake Police registered a case under Sections 337, 336(3), 340(2), 318(4), read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police have launched an investigation into the alleged forgery, cheating and use of fabricated official documents purportedly issued by the Fire Department under HYDRAA.
Officials said the eight colleges are located in:
- Tellapur
- Chikkadpally
- SR Nagar
- Mehdipatnam
- Barkatpura
Investigators suspect that the managements of the institutions were involved in preparing or submitting the forged certificates.
Authorities revealed that the Fire NOCs submitted by around 60 additional colleges are also being verified to determine their authenticity.
Further legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the verification process.
Police are also probing whether the alleged forgery is part of a larger racket involving educational institutions.
