The Telangana ASHA Workers Union, affiliated with CITU, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy and Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, seeking immediate intervention to resolve the payment issue.
According to the union, while the July honorariums were released on August 3, a large number of ASHA workers across various districts reported that the amount had not been credited to their bank accounts.
The union described the selective non-payment as unfair, stating that ASHA workers are the backbone of the State’s rural and urban public healthcare system.
State President P.Jayalaxmi and General Secretary R.Neela Devi, along with other union representatives, urged the government to address the administrative glitches and establish a transparent and streamlined payment system.
The ASHA workers also reiterated their long-pending demands, including:
- Increasing the monthly remuneration from ₹9,900 to ₹18,000.
- Providing Provident Fund (PF) benefits.
- Extending Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) coverage.
- Ensuring job security.
The union warned that continued delays in honorarium payments are affecting the morale of ASHA workers and cautioned that they would intensify their agitation if the government fails to resolve the issue at the earliest.
