Hyderabad, August 5: The Film Nagar Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against a youth accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl and threatening to circulate her private photographs on social media.
The accused, identified as Mohd Rehan, a resident of Film Nagar, allegedly sexually assaulted the minor on multiple occasions.
According to police, the suspect allegedly took private photographs of the victim and later used them to blackmail her, threatening to upload the images on social media if she did not comply with his demands.
Unable to bear the alleged threats, the minor approached the Film Nagar Police Station and lodged a complaint.
Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and other applicable sections of law before launching an investigation.
Authorities said efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused.
The victim and her family are receiving counselling support, while police continue to investigate the case.
