Hyderabad, Oct. 9: The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) held a conference on energy efficiency and future energy technologies for MSMEs in Hyderabad on October 8.
The conference focused on reducing energy costs, improving productivity and adopting future ready technologies. Industry leaders, MSME entrepreneurs, policymakers, financial institutions and energy experts attended the event.
FTCCI organised the conference with SIDBI and RICH as supporting partners and Kehansri Solar as Associate Partner.
FTCCI President K. K. Maheshwari said MSME competitiveness increasingly depends on efficient production, cost management and responsible resource use.
He said rising energy costs, sustainability requirements and changing technologies are creating both challenges and opportunities for MSMEs.
Energy Efficiency Seen as Key to MSME Competitiveness
FTCCI Energy Committee Chair Sushil Kumar Sancheti said MSMEs contribute around 30% of GDP and 48% of exports while generating significant employment.

He said energy efficiency and energy saving measures could improve productivity. However, adoption among MSMEs remains low despite the availability of technology and various initiatives.
Sancheti said renewable energy and affordable energy efficient devices could help MSMEs reduce power costs and dependence on grid electricity.
He added that many MSMEs operate on profit margins of around 5% to 10%. Therefore, reducing energy expenditure could directly support profitability.
The conference included sessions on energy audits, cost reduction, SIDBI financing support, renewable energy and smart energy management.
The RAMP Greening of MSME Initiative also featured an innovation showcase, industry case studies, water and wastewater management solutions, and environmental compliance.
FTCCI Senior Vice President Srinivas Garimella and Vice President Vinod Kumar Agarwal also attended the conference.
The event highlighted energy audits, green financing, renewable energy, smart energy management and government support as key areas for strengthening MSME competitiveness.
