Hyderabad, August 7: Police have launched an investigation after a group of five people allegedly stole a gold chain from a jewellery shop in Tandur of Vikarabad district by posing as customers. The incident, captured on CCTV, has gone viral on social media.
The shop owner lodged a complaint after discovering that a gold chain was missing from the display.
Gold Chain Theft Caught on CCTV
According to police, five persons wearing burqas entered the jewellery shop and asked the staff to show them different gold ornaments.
While the employees were displaying the jewellery, the group allegedly distracted the staff. During the commotion, one member of the group climbed onto the glass display counter and allegedly took away a 10 gram gold chain.
The group then left the shop without making any purchase.
The theft came to light when the staff conducted a stock check and found the chain missing. The shop owner later examined the CCTV footage, which reportedly captured the entire incident.
Police have registered a case and launched a search to identify and trace the accused. The investigation is ongoing.
