Internet, August 9: Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed they attacked a Saudi Aramco facility in Jazan with drones early Sunday.
A fire broke out at the Aramco facility in the Jazan region. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control.
Saudi authorities reported no casualties in the incident. However, officials did not provide details about the cause of the fire.
Houthis Issue Statement on Saudi Aramco Attack
Meanwhile, Houthi military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the attack.
He said the Houthis launched the drone strike as part of their military operations against Saudi Arabia.
The spokesperson also claimed the attack followed alleged Saudi drone incursions into Houthi controlled airspace.
The incident comes two days after Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed a joint defence agreement.
Under the agreement, an armed attack on one member would be treated as an attack on the other members.
The latest Saudi Aramco attack could therefore add to regional security concerns. (Maxim News)
