Hyderabad, Aug 10 (Maxim News): Electors who did not submit their enumeration forms and want to apply afresh for enumeration after the Special Intensive Revision exercise will have to submit a declaration form to the Election Commission of India (ECI) specifying the reasons for not submitting the form in time.
The last date for electors to submit the Enumeration Forms to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will end today (August 10); yet, over 60 lakh voters in the state have not submitted the enumeration forms.
Electors may think ‘what is the big deal in not returning their EF?’. However, officials in the office of the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) clarified that, every elector who received the enumeration form will have to return it to the BLOs after duly filling the required details sought in the forms. If the electors fail to submit their EFs, their names could be deleted from the voters list.
According to the latest data, over 62 lakh enumeration forms are yet to reach the office of the CEO. There are 3,38,26,448 voters in the state and officials claim to have distributed the EFs to all the voters.
However, the BLOs could receive EFs from 2,64,3,094 voters, which is 78.14 percent. Interestingly, none of the districts received 100 per cent EFs, which the officials said was natural because there will be many absent, dead, shifted voters and their data will be automatically deleted from the list However, in some districts like Hyderabad only 58.58 per cent voters have returned the EFs.
There are 47,36,669 voters in Hyderabad and only 27,74,687 voters have returned their EFs. Similarly, in Rangareddy district, there are 36,99,743 voters and so far only 24,01,390 voters have returned their EFs. In Medchal Malkajgiri district there are 29,79,130 voters but only 19,01,328 voters have returned their filled in enumeration forms, reflecting a percentage of 63.82.
When asked about those wanting to apply afresh for an elector identification card, a senior official said that such electors can apply for the voter ID card but they will have to submit a declaration form to the ECI specifying the reasons for not submitting their forms while applying afresh. The SIR exercise was intended to collect the data from the existing electors and the new voters will have to link their votes to their parents.
If the voters skip this exercise, they will have to submit the declaration. If the ECI is not satisfied with the declaration, the voter will have to face notices, the official said. To avoid these declarations, deletions or notices, the voters should submit their forms in time which is August 10 as per the revised schedule issued by the ECI.
The publication of the draft rolls will be on August 17. The period for claims and objections is between August 17 and September 16. The disposal of claims and objections (notice period) will be between August 17 and October 15 and the final electoral rolls will be published on October 19. (Maxim News)
