Hyderabad, Aug 11 (Maxim News): Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to speed up Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 works in the Old City.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting with senior officials on Tuesday. He discussed ongoing plans under Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited.
Revanth Reddy directed officials to complete road widening works between MGBS and Chandrayangutta quickly. The proposed corridor will cover 7.5 kilometres.
He also asked officials to begin the tender process for metro works along this corridor. In addition, he directed them to complete pending land acquisition works without further delay.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the growing passenger demand on Hyderabad Metro. He asked officials to take steps to increase carrying capacity.
Hyderabad Metro plans additional coaches and new investment summit
Revanth Reddy directed officials to add coaches to metro trains based on passenger demand. He also asked them to begin steps to procure additional metro coaches.
For the MGBS to Chandrayangutta corridor, the Chief Minister suggested consultations with Delhi Metro. Officials should seek technical advice based on existing technology before proceeding with the project.
The Old City corridor forms part of the proposed second phase of Hyderabad Metro expansion. Faster execution could improve public transport connectivity across several densely populated areas.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for the Invest Telangana Global Summit planned for December. He directed officials to begin advance arrangements for the event.
He asked the officials to prepare plans to recognise prominent personalities from different business sectors. The summit should meet international standards and focus on attracting fresh investments to Telangana.
The Chief Minister also sought a detailed report on investments announced during last year’s summit. Officials must provide updates on the progress of those investments.
Furthermore, he directed the departments to prepare strategies for further growth in investment inflows. The government plans to use the upcoming summit to strengthen Telangana’s position as an investment destination.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and government advisers Ramakrishna Rao and NVS Reddy attended the meeting.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmed and Additional Managing Director Ajit Reddy also participated in the review.
The government is now focusing on faster execution of the Old City metro corridor and higher metro capacity. At the same time, it is preparing an investment focused agenda for the December summit.(Maxim News)
