Hyderabad, August 11: Hyderabad police detained 116 suspects during the Lal Darwaza Bonalu festival as part of intensified crime prevention measures.
Hyderabad Central Crime Station special teams conducted surveillance across the festival area on August 9 and 10.
Eight of those detained had previous criminal records. Police sent them to the concerned police stations for further action.
Police Step Up Surveillance During Bonalu
Hyderabad City Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes and SIT) M Srinivas said police closely monitored the festival area and surrounding locations.
The teams tracked the movements of known offenders, habitual offenders and property related criminals.
Police also maintained surveillance at major entry and exit points. Crowded areas and other sensitive locations received additional attention.
Srinivas said coordination between the Special Crime Team and local police helped maintain peace and order.
He added that police recorded no incidents of cellphone theft or chain snatching near the festival during the surveillance period.
