Hyderabad, August 28: Minister Konda Surekha met Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Raksha Bandhan amid political tensions within the Telangana Congress.
Surekha visited the Chief Minister’s residence on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. She tied a rakhi to Revanth Reddy and extended festive greetings.
She also tied rakhis to the Chief Minister’s grandson and son in law. The meeting drew attention because it came amid a recent dispute involving her daughter, Konda Sushmitha Patel.
Sushmitha had made strong remarks against Revanth Reddy over a dispute linked to the Parkal Assembly constituency. The Congress disciplinary committee later recommended action over the remarks.
The developments had triggered speculation about tensions between Surekha and the Chief Minister. Against this backdrop, her direct meeting with Revanth Reddy carried political significance.
Surekha Backs Revanth Reddy on Rakhi
After tying the rakhi, Surekha said she would not make political comments during the festival.
She said she considered herself a sister to everyone. She also said women across Telangana would continue to support Revanth Reddy.
“I pray to God to give Revanth the strength and good health to develop the state further,” Surekha said.
She also said the blessings of women would always remain with the Chief Minister.
The meeting came after the Congress disciplinary process involving comments made by Sushmitha. The party had recommended action in the matter, adding to speculation about possible consequences for the family.
However, Surekha’s meeting with Revanth Reddy and her public remarks presented a conciliatory tone. Political observers may view the interaction as a possible indication of an effort to ease tensions.
At the same time, the meeting alone does not establish any formal settlement within the party. The Congress disciplinary process and any further decisions remain separate matters.
The Raksha Bandhan meeting therefore drew attention in Telangana political circles. It combined a public festival gesture with an ongoing political controversy involving senior Congress leaders.
