Hyderabad, Sept. 5: Lallaguda police arrested a 35 year old fitness trainer for allegedly cheating people by promising government jobs, IPL tickets and other benefits.
Police identified the accused as Bhukya Mohan Lal, a resident of Kukatpally and a native of Wanaparthy.
Police said Mohan Lal falsely claimed to have contacts with ministers, senior police officers, government officials, celebrities and other influential persons.
In the present case, he allegedly promised eight lounge and ground floor IPL tickets for an RCB versus Sunrisers match for Rs 1.70 lakh.
He allegedly collected Rs 1 lakh in cash from the complainant at Taaza Kitchen in Tarnaka. However, he failed to provide the tickets and later avoided the complainant.
The complainant approached Lallaguda police, who registered a case on May 30 under Sections 318(4), 319(2) and 316(2) of the BNS.
Lallaguda Police Uncover Alleged Job Fraud
During the investigation, police found that the accused allegedly used a similar method with several people.
Police said he promised jobs in the police, Postal Department and Panchayat Raj. He also allegedly offered Group IV jobs, IPL tickets and other benefits in exchange for money.
To gain victims’ confidence, Mohan Lal allegedly claimed to work at the Telangana Legislative Secretariat under a minister’s Peshi.
Police also found an identity card that purportedly showed his association with the Secretariat. Another identity card linked him to Defence Laboratories School as a PGT in Physical Education.
Police seized a mobile phone, identity cards, documents and cheques from the accused. They are also identifying other people who may have allegedly been cheated.
SI Ch. Vijay apprehended and arrested Mohan Lal. Police produced him before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officers from Secunderabad Zone, Chilkalguda Division and Lallaguda Police Station.
Police advised the public not to believe promises of government jobs or other benefits in exchange for money.
They also urged people to verify claims of influence or contacts with ministers and officials and report suspicious persons to the police.
