Telangana Secretariat Bribe Case | Hyderabad, Sept. 10 (Maxim News): The Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau caught two officials in a ₹1 lakh bribe case linked to CMRF medical reimbursement claims.
The ACB caught the officials red handed on September 10, according to its press note. The operation took place in Hyderabad under City Range II.
The accused include an outsourcing employee at the Telangana Secretariat and a senior assistant from the Telangana State Industrial Development Corporation.
The ACB identified the Secretariat employee as Anandeshi Raghavender. He worked as an outsourcing employee at the Secretariat, Hyderabad.
The second accused, Medi Vinod, works as a senior assistant at TSIDC. His office operates from Parishrama Bhavan in Basheerbagh, Hyderabad.
According to the ACB, the officials demanded and accepted ₹1 lakh from the complainant. They allegedly sought the money for processing and facilitating medical reimbursement claims under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund scheme.
The alleged bribe also covered issuing a cheque for ₹2 lakh. The officials allegedly demanded further payment to process the remaining medical reimbursement claim.
The ACB said Raghavender had earlier demanded ₹5,000 from the complainant. Vinod allegedly received that amount through a PhonePe transaction.
Telangana Secretariat Bribe Case | ACB Recovers ₹1 Lakh From Secretariat Employee
The ACB laid a trap after receiving the complaint. During the operation, Vinod allegedly accepted ₹1 lakh from the complainant.
The ACB said Vinod then handed the money to Raghavender. Officials recovered the tainted cash from Raghavender at his instance.
The agency said both accused officials improperly used their positions for personal advantage. It has started further investigation into the case.
The ACB produced the accused before the Hon’ble I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally. The court proceedings will determine the next legal steps in the case.
The latest case involves claims under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. CMRF assistance can support eligible applicants facing significant medical expenses.
The alleged demand therefore involved money linked to the processing of a government relief claim. The ACB has withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons.
The agency has also urged the public to report bribe demands by public servants. Citizens can contact the ACB through its toll free number 1064.
The ACB press note also lists WhatsApp and Facebook channels for reporting corruption complaints. It said the complainant’s name and details would remain confidential.
The investigation remains underway. Further findings will establish whether additional officials played any role in the alleged transactions. (Maxim News)
