Hyderabad, Sept. 15 (Maxim News): The Telangana High Court on Tuesday extended the validity of existing journalist accreditation cards in the state until October 1, 2026.
The order came while hearing a batch of write petitions challenging the state government’s new accreditation rules under GO 252 and its amendments.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice V. Ramakrishna Reddy passed the order.
The petitions were filed by the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists’ Federation and others.
The court directed that old and existing media accreditation cards remain protected under its orders until the final hearing of the matter.
The case centres on GO 252, which introduced new rules for journalist accreditation in Telangana, and subsequent amendments to it.
Journalists’ bodies have challenged these rules in court, arguing they affect the rights and working conditions of working journalists across the state.

The High Court’s order ensures that journalists currently holding valid accreditation cards can continue to use them without disruption while the legal challenge is pending. The matter is listed for further hearing before the Division Bench.
