Hyderabad, Sept. 18: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has ordered the sanction of two Indiramma houses for the family of former Suryapet MLA Uppala Malsur.
Malsur served as an MLA from Suryapet four times between 1952 and 1972. His family was living in a house that had fallen into a poor condition.
After learning about the family’s situation, Revanth Reddy directed Suryapet Collector Tejas Nandlal Pawar to sanction the houses.
The Collector subsequently issued the proceedings in the names of Malsur’s daughters in law, Uppala Pushpalatha and Uppala Yashoda.
Indiramma Houses Sanctioned for Former MLA’s Family
The family had earlier appealed to the government for assistance under the Indiramma housing scheme.
The Suryapet district administration provides Indiramma houses to eligible poor and houseless families under the state housing programme. The scheme provides financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh per house.
Malsur was a prominent communist leader who participated in the Telangana armed struggle.
He served as the Suryapet MLA four times and was known for his simple lifestyle, according to reports.
The sanction comes after reports highlighted the family’s housing difficulties.
The Chief Minister said the government would continue to focus on providing housing support to eligible poor families.
