Hyderabad, Oct. 2 (Maxim News): A man identified as Mohammed Ansari was taken into custody after he allegedly attempted to desecrate an idol at Santoshi Mata Temple in Dilsukhnagar on Friday.
The incident occurred within the Chaitanyapuri police limits when devotees and the temple priest were present, according to the information available.
Ansari allegedly entered the temple and interfered with the idol using sticks or branches. Visuals circulating on social media purportedly show a man entering the temple, placing branches near the idol and leaving the premises.
Police Take Man Into Custody
Police have taken Ansari into custody following the incident. According to police, he is currently undergoing mental-health treatment.
The circumstances surrounding his entry into the temple and the reason for the alleged act are being examined.
