Al-Qaeda Supporters Call for More Attacks on US, Israeli Aircraft

Hyderabad: A publication linked to supporters of Al-Qaeda has called for copycat attacks targeting aircraft carrying Americans and Israelis, invoking the September 11, 2001, attacks and the recent incident aboard a FlyDubai flight bound for Israel.

The warning appeared in the latest edition of Al-Bayan, a weekly publication circulated by pro-Al-Qaeda supporters. The article referred to the September 30 incident involving FlyDubai flight FZ1073, which was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv when its co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain inside the cockpit.

The publication reportedly circulated through Telegram channels before the material was removed. It included images referencing the 9/11 attacks and the FlyDubai incident.

The message called for attacks on aircraft carrying Americans, Israelis and people it described as opponents of Islam. It also claimed that the United States and Israel had more enemies than before.

FlyDubai Incident Under Investigation

The FlyDubai flight was diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after the September 30 cockpit incident. The aircraft landed safely after crew members and passengers intervened, and all passengers were reported safe.

The co-pilot, identified in media reports as Omani national Hamam al-Hammami, was taken into custody. The UAE Attorney-General said investigators were examining the circumstances, motive and possible links to terrorist activity.

The publication’s call for further attacks comes as authorities continue investigating the incident and the co-pilot’s background. However, the publication’s claims do not establish that Al-Qaeda directed the FlyDubai incident or that the group has operationally organised additional attacks.

The reported message has raised fresh concerns about extremist propaganda seeking to encourage violence against civil aviation. Any specific threat to flights or airports would need to be assessed by relevant security agencies.
