Canada Extortion Case | Toronto, Oct. 4: Canadian police have arrested and charged five Indian-origin men in connection with an alleged extortion campaign involving shootings, arson and other criminal offences targeting an automobile dealership in British Columbia.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said the investigation began in June 2025 after the co-owners of an auto dealership in Langley reported receiving significant extortion demands. The business was subsequently targeted in shootings and arson attacks at its locations in Langley and Surrey.
One of the accused, 23-year-old Sanket Singla, was arrested at Toronto Pearson International Airport on October 1 after returning from India. Investigators coordinated with Canadian immigration and border authorities to facilitate his return and arrest.
The other four accused were arrested in Surrey and remain in custody, according to the RCMP.

The accused have been identified as Sanket Singla, Sahil, Simranjeet Singh, Harsh and Jagdeep Singh. The British Columbia Prosecution Service approved charges against them on October 1.
Police said the investigation uncovered alleged links to extortion, firearms trafficking and controlled-substance trafficking. The charges include extortion, reckless discharge of firearms and causing property damage through fire or explosions. Some accused also face additional firearms or drug-related charges.
During the investigation, authorities seized four firearms, ammunition, magazines and suspected illicit substances, including fentanyl, cocaine and opium.
The RCMP said investigators also obtained evidence that could be relevant to other extortion and violence cases across British Columbia and Alberta. Further charges may follow as partner agencies examine the evidence.
The investigation, known as Project E_PURSUANCE, involved the Langley RCMP, the British Columbia Provincial Extortion Task Force and other law enforcement agencies.
Police have not established guilt through a trial, and the accused remain subject to the legal process.
