Hyderabad, Oct. 6: A court in Hyderabad sentenced two men to four days of simple imprisonment for allegedly smoking in public, roaming suspiciously and causing public nuisance.
The IV Special Judicial Magistrate Court passed the judgment on October 6 in a case registered by Kulsumpura police.
According to police, SI K. Swetha registered an e petty case against U. Saikiran, 24, and N. Naveen, 26. Police alleged that the two were roaming suspiciously, smoking cigarettes in public and disturbing members of the public.
Court Convicts Two Men Under City Police Act
Police produced the accused before the IV Special Judicial Magistrate, P. Savithri Devi, at Manoranjan Complex, Gandhi Bhavan, Nampally.
The court found both men guilty under Section 61(b) of the City Police Act and sentenced them to four days of simple imprisonment.
The case was registered as E Petty Case No. 709/2026 and STC No. 5031/2026. Police said the case was investigated by SI K. Swetha, with PC K. Naresh assisting with court liaison duties.
Kulsumpura police warned that legal action would be taken against those who disrupt public order, smoke in prohibited public areas or cause inconvenience and public nuisance.
