Bandi Sanjay Mocks Congress After MLC Poll Rout

Hyderabad, Oct. 29: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar took a swipe at the Congress after its poor performance in the recent Legislative Council elections, saying the problem lay in the party’s politics rather than Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Reacting to the results announced on Wednesday, Sanjay said the outcome should prompt the Opposition party to reconsider its political approach. He shared his remarks on X, using sarcasm to target allegations and criticism surrounding EVMs.

“EVMs must be laughing today, looking at the results and saying… ‘Ab samjhe? Machine mein nahi, tumhari politics mein problem hain!’” he posted, meaning that the problem was not with the machines but with the party’s politics.

The remarks came after the Congress failed to win a seat in Karnataka in the biennial Legislative Council elections covered by the results. In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP won five seats while the Samajwadi Party secured three.

The elections were held in 28 Legislative Council constituencies across four states, according to the report. The results gave Sanjay an opportunity to criticise the Congress over its electoral performance.

He also used the Telugu expression “Gadidha Guddu,” which literally translates to “donkey’s egg” and is commonly used to describe a situation in which someone returns empty-handed or achieves nothing.

Sanjay’s comments added to the political exchanges between the BJP and Congress following the election results, with the Union minister arguing that electoral setbacks should be attributed to political shortcomings rather than blaming voting machines.
