The Minister held a teleconference with Mission Bhagiratha and Public Health engineers on Saturday morning to review the drinking water situation and preparedness for possible shortages due to El Niño.

She asked officials to use available local water resources in areas facing shortages. Where necessary, they should rent borewells and arrange water tankers to transport drinking water.

The Minister also directed officials to make local sources such as hand pumps, single-phase and three-phase water supply schemes, and wells available for public use.

She said villages facing disruptions in Mission Bhagiratha supply and areas with low groundwater levels must be identified. Officials should make alternative arrangements based on local requirements.
